Fire & Ice: Experience the Elements - The Journey!

In a previous blogpost, I talked about my senior capstone project which was to plan and execute a themed event. It's been a bumpy and emotional 8 months of planning and some extreme stress moments, but our event is over! I have to admit, I am a bit happier that our event has finished... I've got so much more time and am 100x less stressed. I have my life back and can see my friends! The event ran, to the guests perspective, extremely smoothly and well! I have to agree, our management team came up with a great timeline that we stuck with majority of the time and our supervisors that were helping us with this event were all on top of their game to make sure that our event ran as smoothly as possible. It was perfect and I really couldn't have asked for a better management and supervising team on our event day. Below are some pictures and some blurbs about everything that was going on that day (:

Mind you, our management team came in the day before around 4pm and stayed until 1am setting up and decorating the dining room or creating decorations for the reception area. The next day was event day, so we started it at 6:30am at Mr. J's for breakfast with our professors and a mini pep talk as well as some last minute detail questions.

The first part of our event was the Reception area, managed by Trang and Chloe! The space was really transformed and all of the decorations were so beautiful! Their vision in the Reception area was to have guests enter through fire and then transition to ice. In each respective area, servers passed hor d'oeuvres that were spicy or "cool". Our reception was supposed to start at 1pm, but let's be real... everyone really arrived at 12:30, so we were all a bit scrambly. Below are some more snapshots of what the reception area looked like (:

After the reception, guests transitioned into the dining room where fire and ice were combined for a full experience of the two elements. The dining room was managed by myself, Josie and Shannon! (: Working with three people was a bit different, but we pulled the dining room together beautifully. Our colors were a bright orange (to symbolize fire) and a bold turquoise to symbolize ice. I really wish our photographer too pictures of all of the individual centerpieces because they were the favorite part of our dining room. Below are some snapshots and blurbs of the dining room area

The food made by our Back of House managers was phenomenal! The managers for back of house were Katrina and Kara. Both of them created a delicious menu that really helped guests experience the elements through their taste buds. Below are some pictures of the courses served during the brunch (not pictures are the hor d'oeuvres passed during reception).
frosted fruit salad
family style sides - carrots and potatoes
fire kissed flank steak - stuffed with spinach, blue cheese and tomatoes
dessert: ice box strawberry cake
Having a themed event was an amazing experience that I really am so happy that I was able to take part in (: This post is already extremely long, but below are some other pictures from our event!
